UPFI Film Center screenings for June 2013

The UP Film Institute announces its selections for screenings for June 2013 at the UPFI Film Center in UP Diliman.

As a warm welcome for the newest batch of Iskolar ng Bayan, UPFI’s most outstanding films from the ranks of its most recent graduates are presented with works by John Rhys Fernandez, Giancarlo Lauro Abrahan V, Alyssa Cerise Estrada and Jessie Joie Santos.

As a salute to the legacy of National Artist Ishmael Bernal himself a proud UP alumnus, a documentary feature produced by the Concerned Artists of the Philippines and directed by Sari Dalena and Keith Sicat entitled Ishma top-bills a special in the late director’s honor.

For the year’s Philippine Independence celebration, distinct titles from Adolfo Alix Jr. and Raya Martin are selected for another special billed Phantoms of Liberty – Cinema and Discourses on Freedom.

Premier state university audiences are further provided with enhanced viewing fare with plum runs for significant and not-to-be-missed films from Lav Diaz, Brillante Mendoza and Mes de Guzman.

Videotheque screenings are sustained with continuing showcases for Venezuela’s national cinema, in memory of maverick director Danny Zialcita and to boost the culture of film clubs primarily with the CINEPHILES!

For admission and further details, interested parties may call 9262722, 9263640.
