_Palme d'Or (Golden Palm): "The White Ribbon," by Michael Haneke (Austria)

_Grand Prize: "A Prophet," by Jacques Audiard (France)

_Jury Prize: "Fish Tank," by Andrea Arnold (Britain) and "Thirst," By Park Chan-wook (South Korea)

'Serbis' Vying for the Palme d'Or in Cannes

I would like to congratulate one of our scriptwriting and filmmaking mentors, Armando 'Bing' Lao, and company, for their movie 'Serbis' which got into the Competition Category of the ongoing 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Bing is the screenwriter of this feature helmed by Director Dante 'Brillante' Mendoza.

Carlo Ledesma's 'The Haircut' wins at Cannes

Negrense Carlo Ledesma 32, son of Gerry Ledesma and Ramona Coscolluela, won the Best Film Award and a 10,000 - euro prize from the Mini-Movie International Channel at the Short Film Corner of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival for his film "The Haircut".

The film, which tells the story of a barber who is confronted by a bald customer's request for a haircut, was directed by Ledesma who is based in Sydney, Australia. It was produced by Mel Lozano.

LOS ANGELES, California--"We had a ten-minute standing ovation during the official screening," Robbie Tan excitedly told us via text message about the reaction to "Foster Child," which he produced, after its official screening Friday evening at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes.
