Sundance exec comes to Manila for film lecture

The director of the Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent
cinema festival in the United States, will be coming to Manila for a
one-day workshop on independent filmmaking, according to the Film
Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

Geoff Gilmore, the festival's artistic director for the past 17
years, is set to speak in a four-hour seminar titled "Sundance in
Manila" on May 26, starting 2 p.m., at the De La Salle University-
Taft Avenue campus.


P1-M grant
Meanwhile, Seiko Films is seeking P1 million in financial aid for
the world premiere of its digital movie "Foster Child" at the
prestigious Cannes International Film Festival in France.


"Foster Child," by prize-winning director Brillante "Dante" Mendoza,
will be screened on May 25 in the festival's Director's Fortnight
section, which showcases the works of talented up-and-coming
filmmakers worldwide.
