Para na aqui, Paranaque is a video essay about the history of Paranaque from Spanish colonial times to Millennium era.

A lot has changed but the town has retained its cultural heritage. The documentary will concentrate on the old barrios that have existed as early as the Datus and Rajas of our country.

Parañaque may be so close to the country’s capital but its cultural significance has been overlooked. The towns still practice Sunduan, Moro-Moro and Bati-Bati, known traditions in this part of the Metro Manila. Parañaque is where Hermanos and Hermanas still exist. Where it can also be claimed, that Parañaque, was a community of Chinese-Malay-Spanish settlers, that jump started the mixture of different races. From culture, religion and common philosophies, to interracial partnership; consented or not, that resulted to HALO-HALO. West meets east.

The documentary will also touch on the role of the Church in the development of the said areas. The patroness of Parañaque is the Marian image of the Nuestra Seniora Del Buensuceso, which is a 300 year old image, with an interesting back story on how the image arrived in Parañaque.

The documentary will look at Parañaque in terms of commerce, past and the present.

This will also tackle the dying, if not already dead river. It will tell stories how the river is a very significant part of the people’s economic and cultural heritage.

As well as the prominent families that have established Parañaque comparing them now to the common residents in the area who are immigrants to the city.

The documentary will also talk about how Parañaque came to be which through pre interviews was based on a deep social awareness which has made Parañaque home to the biggest Credit Cooperative in Asia, as well as some of the oldest Christian communities in the country.
