Angel Aquino compared to Ingrid Bergman

The production team of Adolf Alix's Donsol held a victory bash at the Mezze Bar in Greenbelt recently, after winning the special jury prize in the Asian Marine Film Festival in Makuhari, Japan.

Angel Aquino, who who plays Teresa, a breast cancer survivor in the movie, received a special commendation from the Asian Marine jury, which compared her to Hollywood great Ingrid Bergman in the classic film “Casablanca.”

New filmmakers evaluate Cinemalaya

Nestor Torre presents, in my opinion, a rather pessimistic evaluation of Cinemalaya, the alternative film festival and also grant-giving organization for filmmakers. According to him, or the views that he has gathered, the festival as of the moment is, at best, a stepping stone to going mainstream, since the "digital look" won't be accepted by the mass audience, and that there are very few digital theaters in the country. The option of transferring to film meanwhile is still expensive.
