New filmmakers evaluate Cinemalaya

Nestor Torre presents, in my opinion, a rather pessimistic evaluation of Cinemalaya, the alternative film festival and also grant-giving organization for filmmakers. According to him, or the views that he has gathered, the festival as of the moment is, at best, a stepping stone to going mainstream, since the "digital look" won't be accepted by the mass audience, and that there are very few digital theaters in the country. The option of transferring to film meanwhile is still expensive.
