Let’s pick up where we left off: Auraeus Solito’s Philippine Science, we wrote yesterday, is a beautiful film, simple and sophisticated, direct and campy, one that gets better and better as it goes along. From the evidence gathered, the praise is valid for Filipino cinema as a whole, which is undergoing something of a renaissance.

Filipino filmmaker Raya Martin wins a second grant from the International Film Festival Rotterdam or IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund Fall 2007. The young director, who is only in his early twenties, is the only Filipino on this season’s list of 28 winners.
Martin’s film "Independencia" won in the Script Development Category of the HBF.
Senators Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada and Loren Legarda have introduced separate bills which aim to exempt movie producers and theater owners from taxes.
