Mission Statement

Digital technology, undoubtedly, has helped Filipino filmmaking make a comeback, although it is arguable that it has ever left the building, perhaps having simply hid within the nooks and crannies, waiting for an opportune time to resurface in a grand way. That time is now. At the very least, we are seeing signs of the dawning of a new Golden Age of Philippine Cinema. It is the vision of PinoyFilm.com to help facilitate that process.

PinoyFilm.com aims to be the repository of Filipino films (and foreign films, as well) and a venue to discuss the merits of these creative works. In effect, one of its goals is to provide a marketing platform for these films – to help further popularize Philippine films, especially those cinematic works which need introduction or re-introduction to the viewing public. Globally, it aspires to be cyberspace’s one-stop shop for those who intend to get a taste of, experience, or even better, distribute Filipino movies in all their diversity.

PinoyFilm.com is also an online interactive workshop, a place to talk shop about the art of filmmaking, where one can trade and share filmmaking experience and knowledge. And lastly, PinoyFilm.com is a venue for collaboration, a place to look for or meet like-minded persons who could help you realize your cinematic vision and goals.

So tarry no longer, folks. The time is now. You may start by registering and looking at the Posting Guidelines -- you may post in English and/or Filipino. Happy posting (and shooting everyone)! Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino!

Aside from writing, filmmaking, and web development, he is also passionate about music.

Custom Advertising

Thank you for your interest in advertising at PinoyFilm.com. PinoyFilm.com's advertising rates are the same as our sister sites's, FilipinoWriter.com's advertising rates. Please click the following link to see FilipinoWriter.com's advertising rates table.

Advertising packages are in increments of 15,000 page views.

Once you have purchased a package -- which is proportionally discounted according to amount of page views bought -- your banner ad(s) will be associated with your and/or your company's PinoyFilm.com account and you will be able to access each ad's Statistics (views, clicks, click-thru rate) and Click History (time, username, ip address, and PinoyFilm.com URL where clicked) anytime. This will give you an idea of the performance of your ad and how many impressions (page views) are left in your ad and thus when to renew it.

If you don't have a banner ad, you also have the option to submit a text ad with at most 100 characters. Same rates apply with respect to placement.

You may want to click the View Stats link at the bottom left of the page to give you an idea of the quality and quantity of PinoyFilm.com's traffic.

How Do I Earn From Google AdSense?

You can earn from Google AdSense just by posting any kind of content type (blog, event, film, review, forum topic, etc.).

Here's how it works:

1. You create an account with PinoyFilm.com if you're not yet a member of the site.

2. You create a publisher's account with Google Adsense if you don't have one. You will be asked for the name of your site. You should, by order of priority:

a. Enter the name of your site -- http://www.mysite.com, for example -- if you already have one.

OR

b. Create a blog at http://www.blogger.com. You will then have a blog name in the form of http://yourblogname.blogspot.com. You should then enter this blog name when applying for a Google Adsense account.

Important: In applying for a Google Adsense publishing account, please don't use the name of the site http://www.PinoyFilm.com, itself, to avoid complicating things (this has to do with click fraud which will be explained below.)

3. You enter your Google Adsense publisher ID (make sure it is in the form of 'pub-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX' including the 'pub' prefix) into the designated box in the "revenue sharing" tab of your "my account" page on PinoyFilm.com.

4. You login and post entries of any content type (blog, event, film, review, forum topic, etc.) at PinoyFilm.com. Make sure that it is an original entry and/or you're not violating anyone's copyright.

5. PinoyFilm.com serves Google ads with every post you make. One time the ad is yours, the next time, it's PinoyFilm.com's (in other words, the set-up is a 50-50 sharing of revenue).

You can test this by viewing the page source of your browser (in the Firefox browser menu, for example, it's View>Page Source). You'll see that when you load a page and view the source, the Google AdSense ID of the ads is yours, and then when you refresh or reload the page and then view the page source, it is PinoyFilm.com's AdSense ID. Or vice-versa.

6. PinoyFilm.com visitors click the ads. You make money. PinoyFilm.com makes money.

(Important: Do not click OR tell others to click on the Google ads served ON YOUR OWN POSTS. This is called click fraud, and you risk losing your Google Adsense account since Google Adsense is very strict about these things.

I have also enabled adsense click tracking to determine the users who may be clicking on their own posts.)

7. Google sends you a check. Google sends PinoyFilm.com a check.

That's it. Good luck and happy posting! Laughing

How do I include a film in PinoyFilm.com's film database?

You may include a film -- yours or someone else's, Filipino or foreign -- in our database by going to your Navigation Menu and clicking create content->film. Only the film title is required, but it will greatly help other users of the site if you can be as detailed as possible with your entry.

How do I post articles from another site?

If you want to share articles from an external site, the proper way to do it is to choose one or two paragraphs from the article then enclose the paragraph(s) in quote tags [-quote][-/quote] -- just remove the hyphen from each of the tags (had to escape the quote tag filter). The format will appear like this:

Quote:

This is an excerpt from another site.

.

You may also add your comments. This way your post will indeed already be yours since you've already interpreted the excerpt and it will now fall within the bounds of 'for education and/or informational purposes' which is one of the requirements of fair use. (Fair use is actually very ambiguous territory and even I have to grapple with its proper implementation.)

Then you should link -- i.e., include the URL or web address -- to the article itself. See the posts in the news section for examples. (Of course, you may use this format not just for the 'news' content type.

The exception to this rule is a press release. You may post the article in its entirety if it's a press release. Linking to the source of the press release if it's available is also very good practice.

How do I post film reviews?

You may post reviews by:

  1. Finding the film (Filipino or foreign) you want to review using the different search boxes of the site. Once you find the film, enter your review in the textarea provided beneath the film. If you did not find the film you want to review, you may create and include the film in our film database by going to your Navigation Menu and going to create content->film.
  2. Posting your review on your blog.

How do I use my blog?

You may use your blog in the following ways:

  1. Record your filmmaking activities.
  2. Share your opinion and thoughts about films, in general, and Filpino filmmaking in particular.
  3. Use your journal as your personal diary.
  4. Any creative use you can come up with. Cool

What language should I use in my posts?

For the purpose of reaching the international market, posting in English is encouraged. However, posting in Filipino is allowed.

How do I add an event to the calendar?

Just use the event content type. Anything that is time-bound or has a deadline like screening, film festival, audition, competition, grant or workshop is considered an event.

In case of a single-day deadline, start time should be 12:00 a.m. and end time should be 11:59 p.m. or any specific end time.

How do I include photos and videos in my posts?

Check out this editorial for instructions on how to insert photos and videos in your posts.

Can I edit or delete my posts?

In the meantime, you can only edit your posts. The delete button will not work; it has been disabled primarily to maintain the integrity of the site's structure, particularly with respect to film and reviews content types.
